Car audio questions, answered
How long does a car stereo installation take?
A typical head unit or Apple CarPlay install takes about 1.5 to 3 hours depending on the vehicle and dash kit. Speaker upgrades are usually 1 to 2 hours, and full systems with amplifiers, subwoofers and tuning can take most of a day. We give you a time estimate with your quote.
Can you add Apple CarPlay or Android Auto to an older car?
In most cases, yes. If your vehicle has a single-DIN or double-DIN opening — or a vehicle-specific dash kit exists — we can install a wired or wireless CarPlay/Android Auto receiver and often keep your steering wheel controls and factory backup camera with the right interface.
Do I need an appointment?
You are welcome to stop by the showroom at 4146 W Camelback Rd any time we are open (Mon–Sat, 10 AM–6 PM) to see gear and get a quote. For installs, booking online or calling (602) 347-8788 reserves a time slot so your car goes straight into the bay.
Which car audio brands do you carry?
Our Phoenix showroom stocks Kicker, Rockford Fosgate, Alpine, Kenwood (including eXcelon), JVC, DS18, Memphis Audio and Viper, plus the dash kits, harnesses and interfaces needed to install them. See our car stereo systems page for the full brand guide.
Do you offer financing for car audio?
Yes. You can apply with Snap Finance, Acima, Progressive Leasing or American First Finance — several offer lease-to-own options. Programs are provided by those third parties, so approval and terms vary. Applying online takes just a few minutes.
Are you an authorized Intoxalock installer?
Yes. Sound Image is an authorized Intoxalock service center in Phoenix. We handle ignition interlock installation, calibration visits and removal at our Camelback Road shop. Visit our Intoxalock page for what to bring and how the process works.
Will a new stereo or amplifier drain my battery in the Arizona heat?
Not when it is installed correctly. We use properly sized, fused power wiring, switched ignition triggers and correct grounds so nothing draws power with the key off. Phoenix heat is hard on batteries, so for big systems we may recommend a battery check or a Big 3 wiring upgrade.
